Gut Instinct: Remembering the Wisdom We Were Born With

Gut Instinct: Remembering the Wisdom We Were Born With

We are born with an innate inner guidance system.  Our gut instinct.  As children, we respond to life intuitively.  We sense what feels safe, aligned, or off without needing to analyze it.  That wisdom lives in the body, not the mind.

As life progresses, however, conditioning begins.  We're taught to prioritize logic over feeling, productivity over presence, and external validation over inner knowing.  When we feel something in our gut, a tightening, a flutter, a heaviness, we often label it as anxiety rather than intuition.  Over time, we start to mistrust the very system designed to guide us.

From somatic perspective, the body communicates constantly.  The gut, often called "second brain," holds immense intelligence.  When we ignore or override its signals, those messages don't disappear.  They simply get louder, often manifesting as anxiety, digestive issues, or chronic tension.

In Reiki and energy healing, we see this clearly in the solar plexus chakra.  The center of personal power, confidence, and gut wisdom. When this energy center is blocked by stress, trauma, or self-doubt, intuition becomes clouded and anxiety can take its place.  What was once a clear inner "yes" or "no" turns into mental overthinking.

Reconnecting with gut instinct isn't about eliminating anxiety.  It's about learning to listen again.  Practices like Reiki, somatic awareness, breathwork, and mindful nutrition help calm the nervous system so intuition can rise to the surface.  As the body feels safe, instinct becomes clear.

The healing journey is not about becoming someone new, but about remembering who you were before the world taught you to doubt yourself.  When you learn to trust your body again, anxiety softens, intuition strengthens, and your inner compass comes back online.

Your gut has always known.  The work is simply learning how to listen.
